"Near & Far" by Joan Kent
January 26 - April 30
Joan Kent received her BFA in painting from Boston University. She lives and works in the Boston area and is a member of the Dedham Art Association, the Newton Art Association, and the Norwood Art Association. Her work has been shown at the Premier Image Gallery, Ashland; The Mobius Gallery, Boston; Gallery 410 at the University of Lowell; The Atrium Gallery, Providence; Grove Street Gallery, Worcester; and various
venues in the greater Boston area. When I start painting a picture, I will sit in front of a blank page, take a color of paint and start making marks. I will not be thinking of anything in particular, I just start working intuitively. I decide what colors I want to work with, for example, I might take a yellow and start laying that down. I tilt the paper and move the paint around. Then I might take a red and place the wet paint in several places, tilt and blend with the yellow, then see where that takes me. I trust the color and flow of energy to lead me. For more information on Joan Kent and her work, visit her artist page on Instagram at www.instagram.com/jartseid/
